She has a 6 page paper due tomorrow at noon, she's sick, and she is stressed out. What can I do to help? It's about some philosophy stuff that I don't even have a clue about, I just feel really bad about it :(

Just write something for her. Or at least get her to a doc tomorrow morn and get a sick leave.

Unless she wants to cheat or fail she has to pull an all nighter and finish it. Otherwise you can read the material and write it for her.

philosophy?

you realize, there is OT for the random "Oh crap, I need a quick summary of some 4,000 pages of text, someone help me" situation.

Cheers ! :)

You don't wait last minute for a philosophy paper. It's not an easy thing to write. But since it's the last day, how about getting her something to eat, relax and a nice music to play. And then stay away from her. Staying too close to her in the name of being there for her would get you the kick and increases the stress. There's time for business and there's time for pleasure. When you try to be too supportive when someone's stressed, they'll take it out on you. Just do the basic stuff and disappear.

We're in the library so I can't just run off, since I've got a speech to write too  but really, I'd rather take the blame so she isn't as stressed than have her antagonize over it. I think it'll be an all nighter :/

i would give her a backrub and the disappear until she's done. then take her out and do something fun so she can work off the steam.

Find out what the topic is and then do some research on google to find some good links that she can draw ideas from. 6 pages is VERY doable if she pulls an all nighter. How sick is she?

Dude, it's 6 pages.
I've pulled 6 pages out of my ass 2 hours before class. And that was in between bouts of Tony Hawk 4 too.

But then again I've been doing this my entire college career, so... :)

Have her ask for an extension, and don't sweat the small stuff. One missed assignment never killed anyone...at least I don't think it has, anyway.

Oh wait, there was this one accounting assignment I was supposed to do, which counted towards only 10% of our final grade, but it was MANDATORY to pass the class. I missed that last part somehow...

I had an A in the class, so I was thinking, 'ok so that will knock it down no further than a B...I can live with that'. I FAILED the damned class! :disgust:

Yeah, this is 30% of her grade. It's college, you don't ask for extensions.

yeah, or we'd have 40 year olds asking for another extension on their freshman term papers :p

sure you could. All depends on the professor... worth a try, at least.

It's just 6 pages. I've written longer in shorter periods of time.

No need to stress.

Huh? I've never heard that before. People get extensions all the time, if you can show good cause.

You don't go up to your professor and say "Hi, so I was like partying this weekend? And didn't get my paper done? I was wondering if like..."

I've even had a couple professors who liked to negotiate a deal. One of them said I could have a one week extension, but it would cost me 20% of the assignment grade. I got him down to three days and 10%. :D

University is ALL about extensions. I have a friend who missed almost every single first year philosophy class, brought in faked doctor's notes to all of his due dates for papers, got 2 of them extended and one omitted from his final mark, then had his professor chase him out of the final (from which he stole a copy to give to another friend writing the same test in 3 weeks) to tell him that he was gonna go easy on him on the final 'cause he was "sick" all year long.
