GF discovers bottle of XENADRINE in her roomie's room - should she be concerned?

My GF was looking for a sweater in her roommate's room. They share clothes without asking frequently. As she was leaving, she noticed a bottle, in plain view, on the dresser. It was a bottle of Xenadrine diet pills, nearly empty.

Now, my GF is worried that her friend may be making unhealthy decisions in her pursuit of maintaining a slim figure. This girl has also taken up smoking in an effort to supress her appeitite. Apparently she has also been shaking constantly and is seemingly unable to keep her hand steady while holding things.

I told her to mind her own business, but she's quite concerned. I have no experience with this drug so I'm unaware of any potential risks to this girl's health. Should she be worried, or should she simply butt out and worry about what to get me for Christmas?

Bloody women...

I don't think so. If she has heart problems, it could be an issue. I'd be more worried if she were suspected of being bulemic or anorexic.

If her roomie works out and uses xenadrine properly, it's not a problem. So many people don't realize that these drugs are only dangerous when not used properly (like ALL OTC drugs).

Even if it's not ephedra free it's safe unless she has a heart condition and doesn't follow directions.

Well, this girl does NOT exercise or eat a proper diet. She doesn't have a heart condition - yet...

She should mind her own business, but taking up smoking to lose weight is asinine.

Pretty much my thoughts; if she wants to go to retarded lengths to lose weight, go ahead and let her. But you know what women are like...

Xenadrine isn't really that hazardous to your health if it is ephedra free. It sounds like your g/f's friend is in pursuit of a slim figure - but if she starts acting funny or looks unhealthy then I'd approach her.

Even if the Xenadrine is the older version with ephedra, it's still probably not going to hurt her unless she's been taking more than the dosage recommended on the bottle. Also, this is no concern of your GF's.

I had a girlfriend in college who gave me the "I'm only smoking to lose weight" excuse. Our relationship did not last long.

Xenadrine is reccommended to take ALONG with exercise, weight training, etc. It's not like it will instantly make you skinny anyway.

there is nothing that your girlfriend can say that will change this girls actions. infact, she could just trigger her more.

and koing, if you think not eating is the lazy way out, why don't you try fasting and tell me what is easier, not eating or exercising.

Dieting is a million times more difficult than exercising. I would always use the fact that I was exercising as an excuse to eat more. :D

A little off-topic, but is there a single sitcom that hasn't had at least one episode dealing with diet pills??

I can't believe all these people are saying to mind your own business. When someone has a problem, you help them, if you have any decency.

It isn't her business to be snooping around and then confront her about something. Unless she notices significant mood or physical changes she has no business saying a damn thing!

Actually, in my GF's defense, she wasn't snooping, she had permission to be in her friend's room. Secondly, this is one of her best friends and she deems her friend's health a high priority.

Personally, I've told her to stay out of it unless her friend starts to display signs of ill health.

Of course she should be concerned. The next thing you know, her roommate would be hopping all over the place doing hit pitched war cries, finding herself a platonic life partner, and going about fighting against evil warlords to try to make amends for past bloodsheds by her hands. Heck you should be concerned in fact--your girl friend could be chosen as the platonic life partner and where would that leave you?
