Be aware that using this requires dialing 911 and hanging up on them - which is illegal in most countries. It apparently does work, though I have no personal experience.

Its called. "I apologize, my pocket dialed 911 by accident."
If one were desperate enough, sure. But as we've demonstrated, most Americans aren't aware offhand that 112 is 911. Also, I believe you must do this EVERY time the phone boots, so it's not like one time and done....
I'm not saying don't buy this, I'm saying go into it with eyes wide open.

It is a tethered unlock so this must be done everytime the phone loses power. Most people dont ever turn off or shutdown their phone though.
Actually I believe it is NOT a "tethered" solution - which would mean one needs to connect the phone via wire to a PC each reboot. Those are generally for the jailbreaks, and current state of jailbreaking is non-tethered for most all iDevices.
Note that it's NOT just loss of power, it's *ANY* device reboot - intentional or not. Yes, most non-jailbroken folks only see a reboot when they "swipe to power off" or run the battery completely out, but those are not the only cases. iPhones especially DO crash, and IME especially those doing Exchange-based push e-mail need semi-periodic reboots to keep push working cleanly.
As I said, it's really just an "eyes-wide open" decision - so anyone considering this should do a fair bit of research before jumping.

This method is tethered because you must unlock the sim everytime the phone loses power using the mention unlock steps. I could see the cops noticing a trend if you are "accidentally" calling them a few times a week/month.
We agree on the fundamental problem, but will have to agree to disagree on the terminologyI'll drop it.
