XM came built-in to my new car and I listened to the free trial they gave me. All I ended up listening to was that comedy station which started to repeat the same content pretty heavily after about a week. I decided not to sign up. I'll stick to AM radio and Ipod.

Obviously satellite radio isn't for everybody.

XM has caused me to purchase more CDs since I owned it than I had in the previous year.

IMHO, the news difference is a wash, but XM far surpasses Sirius in music selection. If I wanted lots of replays, I'd listen to FM.

Honestly I very seldom listen to music on my Sirius radio, which I guess is odd to some. You may well be right about the music selection vs. XM, though most comparisons don't seem to reach the same conclusion.

BTW, XM subscribers should call up XM and threaten to cancel - apparently they are discounting their subscriptions as low as $3/mo, and even giving away new units, to keep their numbers up. I am told they will be very generous in an effort to maintain their subscriber base.

you got a linky with that?

I chose XM over Sirrius because XM has more news stations. Sirrius only has CNN.

Channel 202 is your friend ;)

Ron and Fez for the win buddays!

Have you heard it since he moved to Sirius? It's a lot better than ever and better than all his imitators by far.

The King Of All Media > Dopie & Aintfunny

Stern is good too, I have Sirius in my truck. It just sucks you cant listen to him online, so when I get it I put O&A on.

Which one I like better tends to go back and forth. When Stern was still on FM there was no contest, he blew major ass. But once he came onto Sirius, he was doing some of the best radio I have ever heard. Once that happened, I couldn't stand listening to O&A because all they talked about was Stern, while he didnt even know they existed.

Now it pretty much goes back and forth depending on the day.

Stern hands down does the better celeb interviews. Opie tends to brownnose a little too much for my tastes. He just gets this kissa$$ tone in his voice that gives me douchechills.

On the other hand, Sterns whole staff and callers kiss his ass way too much. That is one thing that annoys the $hit out of me. O&A = anyone is a target. If someone says something stupid, or an asshatish opinion they get their chops busted about it. I respect that about thier show quite a bit.

Wait, what did this thread have to do with Sirius again ?

Sorry litch, I cant STAND Ron& Fez. As far as the sidebuster shows go, Sirius gets the V with bubba. That magilicutty is on the chip ;)

*O&A are alot better than people give them credit for though.

*-When they are just doing their show and not talking about Stern that is.

Actually I got 6 free months by doing the same thing but its obviously a big YMMV.

First they offered me 3, then once I mentioned "Howard Stern" it went up to 6.

No link, I just called the number on my bill.

Nope - it's purely anecdotal. I imagine if you just prepaid for a year (that's what I did with Sirius), you might lack much bargaining power. OTOH, if you are month-to-month, I'd definitely call them up and say you're thinking about canceling or moving to Sirius. The word on the streets is that they'll cut you a killer deal to keep you on the books.

Plus, Baseball is by far and away the best sport to listen to on the radio.

Oh, and World Cup '06!!!

I hope you are not serious.

As a follow up, I called and got the myfi activated on sunday. They did a year at 77, and when they told me the activation was 15 bucks, I said it was supposed to be included. I was on hold for about 3 mins, then she said it wasn't included, but she would waive it.

I liked a couple of channels, I think Lucy, and whatever they call the "punk rock" channel. (Fungus?) I tried to listen to O&A, but they bored the hell out of me. I did get a kick out of reading XMFan while trying to figure out why my activation didn't work, you would think this is some kind of cult. I am sure siriusbackstage gets the same way. I had to call back about 5 hours later, I guess the first lady didn't process my activation, the second lady hooked me up in about 5 minutes.

It was worth the 77 bucks for baseball, but I don't see myself dropping my Sirius subs.
