I believe there are more Alliance players, so go with Horde. :)
I personally like the Priest class, I haven't seen many but there are alot of Warriors/Rogues/Mages.

Finish all the quests in your starting area and that should take you to about Level 6, then proceed to move on to the next zone. E.G. Tauren starts in Red Cloud Mesa, after you're done you can proceed to Bloodhoof Village or Thunderbluff (both in Mulgore) or go to Razor Hill (in Durotar, past Barrens) and do their quests. The majority of your experience gain will be from quests, because you not only gain experience for killing monsters but finishing the quest also gives you experience and sometimes rewards!

If you can't find a NPC (common problem with quests), go to www.thottbot.com and search for its name, there is a mini map with a dot where the NPC has been sighted. Sometimes the NPC moves so there are multiple dots.

If you are in a guild, it is best to plan out your professions so it benefits eachother. The most profitable professions are mining and skinning, players at the Auction House pay big money for those materials.

I'm wishing that I'd created my character on a PvP server and gone on my own, rather than a Normal server where they rarely show up on. Unfortunately, I'm a lvl 26 warrior and don't want to start over :(

I think he's saying there's barely any PvP action on Normal servers. There are three types I believe, Normal (Player VS Environment), PvP, and Roleplay. Most people play on PvP servers.

The PvP is great, especially when you start Raid groups (up to 60 players I think?) and go kill some Alliance scum. :) Just go to some fansites and look at the screenshots/videos, that should give you a good idea.

I think the PVP servers are the most fun. Did PVE in beta and PVP retail and I like it much better. As far as most played faction/class goes there are more alliance players than horde but everyone and there brother in the horde is a @&$%ing shamen. As far as most popular in alliance probly Pally, rogue,or druid then hunters & mages followed by warriors and priests.

Class rundown:
Warrior - Right before retail this class was to receive some "lovin", but would up mostly to be nerfs. Not many peeps currently play warriors because of this. Played one to level 10.
Priest - Uncommon class, but in high demand past level 10 in groups. Solo is difficult unless you go shadow spec'd. Played one to level 10.
Shamen - Never played. Horde only.
Druid - Never played, but seem to be one of the more popular ones. Pet class.
Rogue - High damage per second and poison procs to increase DPS. Stealth not really helpful since opening chests and such destealths you. Maybe there is a more powerful stealth that does not drop cloak. Played one to level 10.
Hunter - Never played, bout as common as Druid. Pet class.
Mage - Never played. Not very common.
Warlock - Played to level 10. About 3x more common than mages. Pet class.
Paladin - Played to level 21. The most common class (on Alliance side) played. Some would argue that they are overpowered since the warrior nerf. Personally would like the warrior class to be beefed up rather than Paladins nerfed. Alliance only.

Mining/skinning/herbalism (foraging type skills) are a good way to fund training and equipment for the starting levels. Skinning is the best of the three. You can take up to 2 professions.

I've played all the classes on both Horde & Alliance except for priests. My personal favorite class is Shaman, then Mage, and finally Hunter.

On Warriors:
While playing in the closed beta, they made some pretty bad changed to the warriors... One of my favorite abilities, I believe it was called "Enrage" was completely changed. Originally it was a passive ability that would trigger every once in a while, and allow you to strike 3-4 consecutive blows on the opponent quite quickly (came through in a pinch a lot of the time). Instead they changed it to a passive ability that when triggered, would just give you a higher crit possibility... oh boy. that's fun.

I stopped soon after they did that. Then it went public beta, then retail.

Yeah, the warriors got shafted big time. Like someone else said, an unarmed rogue can kill a warrior 2 levels higher.

is it possible to swap weapons in the middle of combat? I'd like to have a macro set up to use the dagger whenever i'm doing ambush and backstab. Yes poisons are really cool.

my next dream dagger is the meteor shard, a blue drop from archmage

Yes. How exactly I'm not sure, but if you look around you can find info on how to set it up.

I like both, all the races and classes seem inresting to me. The Warrior seems the least interesting though.

An Undead Priest seems like it would be cool......

cant wait:)

Some revisions to that :

Warrior - only plate class on the horde side, best 'tank' by far for the horde.

Shaman - most popular class on the horde side, extremely well rounded. Will probably end up being primary healer in groups as the horde has almost no priests and very few druids.

Druid - not nearly as popular as shamans, can shapeshift into bear form to tank, cat form to do extra damage, seal form for huge swimming bonuses, cheetah form for speedy running, has an extremely useful 30 min buff with mark of the wild and very competitive healing with priests.

Enrage was changed from 40% haste for 4 attacks after someone scores a critical hit on you, to 40% extra damage for 4 attacks after someone scores a critical hit on you.

In any case, sobbing over balance changes made in beta is kind of silly.

Hunter is awesome. Having a pet to tank while you fire away with your bow is almost an unstopable combination. Plus it gives you more things to do and think about rather than just spamming specials. Having Aspect of Cheetah helps a helluva lot on long runs, as well. :)

I highly suggest joining a PvP server. I love cruising down a path or through the landscape and surprisingly coming upon Alliance members. Nothing beats the thrill of catching someone off gaurd and dusting them, or being caught off gaurd and fighting tooth and nail for survival. Raids rock, too. :)
