just start going to be earlier and earlier, until you find out how much sleep you need at night.

your inability to wake up is probably your body's way to telling you that you're not getting enough sleep.

what time do you go to sleep and what time do you wake up every morning?

I pretty much know how much sleep I need, about 8 hours. 7 is ok, 6 is eh, 5 is crappy, 4 is bad, 3 is awful, 2 is horrid.

I don't have any set sleeping schedule. I go to bed anywhere from 2am to 7am and get up anywhere from 7:30am on T/Th to 4pm when I sleep in. I usually get anywhere from 2 to 5 hours on school days.

I guess you guys are on the right track.. I need to focus on getting to sleep rather than waking up, since the latter depends on the former.

bingo.

try getting to bed during the PM and you'll be surpised how early you can wake up :)

why do you lay back down ? The best way to wake up is to sit up for a minute or so... that's the most relaxing way too.

I don't have a problem waking up. Occasionally I oversleep if I don't set my alarm, but if it's on I usually wake up 10-15 min before it goes off or right after it goes off. I hate the alarm clock noise.

I'm actually pretty lucky. I ALWAYS wake up before 6am on weekdays, and 9am on the weekend. No idea how my body tells the difference, but it does. It's great. Don't even need an alarm clock, but I use one just in case.

If you drink coffee, I'd suggest stopping. Caffeine plays havoc with your body and if it gets deprived of its fix overnight, it will resist starting up.

The allure of the bed is too much for my barely conscious mind to resist. Then of course the "just one more snooze" syndrome.

re: caffiene

I don't drink coffee but I drink a fair amount of pop. I do use it as a pick me up in the mornings fairly often, but I'm not sure if I drink enough that my body is dependent on it.
