Yeah, I am fat.

I basically just lack motivation.

I will start Monday. I work from 8am-5pm, so I can workout after work. My employer has a full gym, so I can't use that excuse.

Everytime I have worked out in the past, I lifted weights and ran, but I just got bigger. I think I need more cardio and less weights.

The problem is, I heard that if you weight train AND cardio, it is much more effective.

Anyways... I feel stupid in the gym and don't know what to do next. Anyone have a good workout plan for me to try?

Thanks for helping out a fat@ss. :D

go in do some light weight training, u can use dumbbells, and what ever you feel comforable with, then do at least 20 mins of cardio, this is the time when fat starts to get burning, and cardio is not just running, u can walk at first, or u can do a stair climber, or a bike. I would start out with a bike and then work up to running. If you need dumbell excersises just let me know, i know a ton. hope this helps

Lifting weights won't make you gain weight. You might gain more muscle mass.

More cardio. You might be more hungry and eat more after a workout, but if you're taking in less calories than you're burning, you'll lose weight for certain.

If you're excercising and still can't lose weight, you might want to see your doctor.

I wish I had that guy's motivation... I have read that site before. That would be awesome.

It's not that tough. I've been on his plan since June 2003. After the first couple weeks, eating healthy foods comes easy. I've dropped from 21% body fat to 11%, shaved 4 inches off my waist, and can run 5 miles in about 48 minutes. The motivation flows more as you start to look better and better.

I like to run, but I usually cramp up after the first mile or so... I even stretch out before hand. My stomach is what kills me... Like right under my rib cage... it cramps and I have to stop.

I get that too sometimes. I think it happens because your liver uses up it's stores of sugar. If you work out a lot your muscles build fat stores inside them, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Ok here's some pointers.

1: NEVER STRETCH BEFORE YOU RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If your muscles are cold it's like stretching piano wires. If you stretch when you muscles are cold you're going to pull that muscle. Stretch after you run, once you're hot.

Now to the cramp issue. It's probably a combination of the following:

A)Not enough water during the day
B)Not enough endurance

Make sure that you're drinking water throughout the entire day, just drinking during a run or right before/after won't do you much good toward preventing dehydration/cramps. Also try eating fruit during the day and bananas help prevent cramps as well.

Also start working out your abs, start doing crunches after every other run or something.

I recommend Ab Boot Camp I started it 3 weeks ago and my Abs are seriously starting to form. The Stomach Vacuums work wonders.
