I have a colleague working on a project where he needs to create a web page with a video clip playing. The viewer needs to be able to pause the video clip and type text notes into a text box (aboutt he video clip they are watching) then submit it. The trick is that the time the video is paused at needs to be automatically recorded when the person hits pause on the video (if the timecode is retrieved from the paused video at the time the person submits the notes that could work too.)
The person is not tied to using any one format, so if this would be easy with Quicktime, or Real, or Windows Media we could use any of those formats, as long as it's common enough for a majority of people visiting a web page to be able to automatically view it without installing special software.
This person's primary focus is medicine and surgery, so I would prefer a solution he could impliment with html or XML or even simple Javascript rather than having to learn an entire package and build this all in Flash or something like that.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance.
