A friend accidentally delted the "Show Desktop" icon from the quicklaunch toolbar.
We are trying to find a way to get it back, but I can't figure this out !!

thanks for your time in helping us !

Hitting Windows key + D twice will get you back where you were before you hit it. Win+M just minimizes everything. To get your shortcut back got to Start and search for a file called "Show Desktop" to see where it went. Then just drag it into the quicklaunch bar to make a new shortcut to it.

I bought the Microsoft Trackball Explorer and use a button for hide/show desktop. I got rid of that quick launch crap. It takes up space on my start menu. Everything opens for me at boot anyways. I hate having to wait for things to load. I'd rather have everything load up immediately for me.

Window+D is show desktop.
Window+M is minimize all.

Slightly different functions.

Shift+Windows+M will put you back where you were before you minimized.

Can you explain how showing the desktop and minimizing all the windows are different?

You don't have to hold shift while you press Win+D to get back where you were. That's the only difference. Do you get it now?

Show Desktop minimizes just about everything that covers up the desktop, except for a few floating apps that are set to Always On Top. It also hides popup and message boxes, which Minimize All does not.

The difference is very minor.
