Getting the Network "disconnect" icon gone from Taskbar

Quick question:

There is that little network unplugged icon in the bottom left next to the clock for the gigaport port that is not in use. How can I get rid of that? I have already gone in and chose not to "Show icon in notification area when connected." but it is still hanging out there.

Go to network connections, and disable that interface.

Yeah I think you have to disable the nic to get it to go away.

I think if you go into the properties of the connection and uncheck 'notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity' may do it

Its just a network port that theoretically can reach that speed.

oh, its a 1000 Base-T Gigabit Ethernet port.

actually there isn't any theory involved here, it operates at 1000 megabits/sec.
