Getting the interview

Background info: I?ve been in the military for the last seven years and have limited experience when it comes to the business world. My target employers will be government contractors.

After my first round of resumes went out I received 1 lonely response. It was an email asking for a ?phone screening.? I called first thing the next morning and had what I believed to be a very good conversation with one of the HR reps. We ended the call and I was told I would be contacted no latter then Tuesday of the upcoming week (phone call was on a Friday). Tuesday came and went; in fact tomorrow will be one week for the day I was hopping to get the call. At this point I have moved on and continue to pump out the resumes. The problem is I wanted this job, bad. Do I have any other options other to ?sit and wait??

You can always call back and ask for a status update. At the very least, if they tell you they have chosen another candidate, you can ask for constructive critisism.

I made the call and I think it helped. I was told I'll be notified by the end of this week on my status. She said she will keep me upto date... I guess it's better then the "we went another direction."
