Because it has a 3.0 liter V6 compared to that 127HP I4 VTEC POS. Should be at least in the low 8's or high 7's. Used to have a Grand Am so I need something to bring back that joy. Maybe I'll just get another GA.

Sorry, Galants are far from performance machines and Mitsu doesn't exactly have the best quality. I think I'd rather have a GA then a mitsu.

From a Civic EX to a Pontiac GTO? Keep in mind, the GTO is just a rebadged Holden Monaro from Australia that GM imported and slapped a new badge onto.

It's not an "American Legend" and it's certainly not a performance machine. It sounds pretty but it's nothing special. If it tells you anything, I've seen them around the Detroit metro area, but ONLY with manufacturer plates - which tells me that NO one is buying them.

Yeah, seems like its a doomed car. Nobody seems very impressed by anything but the power.

I think its a great looking car inside and out. I don't care where its from, it still looks nice. Lots of power. Its a tad bit on the heavy side, so its not as fast as the older LS1 F-Bodies, but its still a pretty quick car. It is a tad bit expensive though, but its definatly a nice car.

Pontiac has admitted that the GTO is selling poorly. The main reasons for it would be that it doesn't look like a GTO (looks like the older late 90s Grand Prixs if you ask me) for instance like the new Mustang, and it doesn't have hardly any of the typical GTO trademarks (hood scoop, badges, etc.).

Also, its kinda pricey. If a new Mustang GT sells for under $20,000 then you can bet that the GTO is gonna do even worse in sales.

Oh, here's a link.

Munchies, how big of a discount did you get? That's over 5 grand off the base MSRP!?

I have written to pontiac, wrote articles for ls1gto.com and for ultimatgto.com, and I own a 1970 gto black on black with a 73 455SD and I ordered a 2004 GTO. It is not a performer? What planet are you on man? I havent found a dealer that can keep them in stock. MI and az. I lived in Detroit, then Livonia, now Southern Az. Not to mention the interior. It is the best interior on any production GM vehicle EVER. The whole chassis, suspension, and drivetrain was designed in AMERICA. The sheetmetal was designed in Aussie by holden yes, BUT there have been a few big changes. Read up son. Not to mention since everyone in MI had a employee discount including us the gto comes with the A4 for $28,000 on GMS with deliver charges. Beat that. And btw read up on info from someone who knows, and owns the LEGEND.

They're only selling half as fast as GM was expecting, so if dealers can't keep them in stock, it's because they don't want to because no one is buying them. :) It sounds great but it looks like an oversized Sunfire. The interior is beautiful, I'll give you that much. I definitely wouldn't mind driving one, but even at $28,000 it's more than I'd like to spend on a car right now. :)

it is NOT a performance machine??

are you high? A Monaro is a performance car.

The GTO fills the void that the Firebird left. It's FAST and handles well for it size, and is comfortable.

Yeah.. but not a GTO. So I equate it to skywalker getting the "hot" girl he wanted.

To be honest I am very glad that the GTO is selling poorly so when I see one I wont be too jealous since my chances of actually seeing one are limited. They do have one at a local dealership here though.

And considering I live the car capital of the world I have yet to see a single GTO on the streets. I see more Azteks then GTOs. That's gotta tell you something......
