Yeah, if you pick them up by the scruff I think it's an instinct for them to go limp and be very docile. I'm assuming it's genetic so that mothers can carry their kittens around.

Cats are helpless when you hold their front legs together and in front of them, something that you should be able to easily do with one hand. Then use your other hand to shove it into the carrier. Holding by the scruff doesn't work because it leaves all their natural weapons free.

My cat is to damn fast for that....this is what I do. I put a string through the back cat carrier and tie his catnip filled mouse to it. I pull the mouse into the cage and he follows it in everytime. :)

Nice!! Would work well for me, if I didn't have 9... ;)

Maybe if I isolated the one I was trying to bag...

You have 9 cats? Are you an old widowed crazy woman?

I got bad scars from my last attempt. No real way to do it but get their head and front legs in first.

Yeah, animal cruelty can be oh so funny.:frown:

At any rate, I purchased a larger top loader and left it out, open, in the living room. When I brought it in she ran and hid, a few hours later she was inside investigating, a few hours after that she was curled up inside of it.

Lol, I bet you when it's time to go the vet she'll want no part of it.

Wow, our cat is so well tempered. When it's time to go to the vet he knows what's going on but doesn't resist. We get the carrier out and put a blanket in it with a couple of treats on top. We place him in front of it and he just walks in, eats the treats, and lies down. He cries a little in the car but not too bad. He also is great during baths. He doesn't make a single sound and doesn't even try to escape. He's eight years old but he was always like this. We did have a wild cat before him, so we do know how calm he is.

You don't have a cat. You have a dog trapped in a cat's body.

stretching
doesn't mind the bathtub

oh wow, this is funny. I've only ever had dogs, and they get in carrier's just fine, for the most part. However, bath time is rather amusing. My dogs will sit in the tub and let you do whatever.... unless you turn away. then they try and mad dash out, which is rather comical considering they get no traction on a tub.

lol
