Getting the Blue screen error message!!!

After having my computer install recent window updates, my computer now is not working so well and i can only start it up on safe mode. Everytime i start up my computer i firstly get shot with a "windows has recovered from a serious problem," message, which then, no matter what button i press whether it is send error report or cancel, my computer restarts. I then disabled my computer from restarted when and error is detected then i got the blue screen which has the error code:
0x0000008E (0XC0000005, 0XAAD6F8B7, 0XA7ZEBA28, 0x00000000)
This shouldn't have much to do with my computer parts, considering i didn't change anything or install new drivers, just the new window updates.
Though i am on Windows XP on a Sony Vaio VGC Rb-40, with original specs except for a new ATI X700 video card.

Thanks.

maybe bad memory or hard drive. download memtest and run it on startup. i cannot remember the hard drive utility, but google it and see what you come up with.

What did you end up doing?

You might want to follow my BSOD guide (see last sentence in .sig) and that will tell you why the box crashed....
