I've been playing around with trying to figure out the best visual quality of my PS2 and XBox on my pc with decent results.
I'm using a Leadtek winfast 2000 card, and S video cables / inputs.
I've used Dscaler and the Leadtek software and they both have similar results. Although Dscaler has more options for tuning picture quality.

The main problem, or only problem really, is that due to the high resolution of the monitor, things just don't look too great. Has anyone had really good results doing this?

well... yea, PS2's and XboX's resolution are only 640x480, so seems that's how high you can get.

It would be nice to be able to double that resolution through software though :) Or some kind of filters that would make it look a lot better.

PS2, I'm not sure. I think S-Video is as good as you'll get.

The XBox, though - buy the HD pack and the VGA adaptor. 480p. :D

If your monitor is a CRT, then lowering your desktop resolution might help a bit.

The problem's not in the monitor, it's in the digital-analog-digital-analog conversion you're getting.

Xbox renders digital, gets converted to analog s-video. TV card inputs, converts back to digital to send over PCI bus. Video card converts to analog to display. Sharpness? What's that? :p

If you cut out the middleman with a VGA box, you'll save the extra conversion in the middle, as well as auto-switching your monitor to the optimal resolution (640x480) for the signal.
