getting stitches.

i'm gonna call a couple of docs tomorrow, but it's sunday and it doesn't seem ER worthy.
 
This happened to me about 1.5 months ago. I've got a scar now. Hopefully, it will lighten as time passes. To answer your question, it's kind of hard to tell. Stitches can't hurt - if anything it will speed the process of healing because the wound would be closed.

Well, with things like that, it's probably best to get it taken care of ASAP if you don't want scarriing. If you're adamant about waiting until tomorrow, I'd say keep it clean and get some of that neosporin stuff on it - I'm not sure if it's true or not, but it's supposed to lessen scarring, right?
 
Hrmmm. Well, you only have like 2 hours to get stitches. After that, they can't really do anything for it to reduce scarring besides plastic surgery.

really? healing starts that quickly?

well, it's been 24 hrs, so i think we passed the 2 hour mark.

btw, i'm not really that concerned about scarring.

Healing's instantaneous. It's just that it takes a while until it's noticable.
 
Yea...Im pretty sure you can't get them then. Sorry. Most people don't know about the time limit with stitches.

so if bleeding has stopped and it's been more than 2 hours, it would just be money thrown away to get stitches?


there was a decent amount of bleeding initially, then i cleaned it and dressed it with neosporin.

so at this point, stitches would not be a big help?

oh well.

Well, definitely if it's past 24 hours. You should've went to the hospital immediately if you were looking for stitches.
But chicks dig scars, right? 😀

Im not even sure they COULD give you stitches. And if it keeps opening up, by all means go to the hospital. But if its stopped bleeding, your best chance at reducing scarring is to keep the wound as clean as possible and closed up as much as possible.
