Getting Sprint to waive ETF?

Had anyone had any success getting Sprint to waive their ETF so you can switch to a different carrier? The service in my area has been pretty piss poor for the last month. I have had numerous dropped calls in the last two weeks. My phone will show good signal strength but when I try to place a call it will give a network unavailable error. Calls not ringing through and going straight to voice mail. Even sitting at my desk I never had a problem with getting a good signal now it bounces from maybe one bar to roaming. I have just had enough and want to switch to Verizon.

Sorry but that doesn't sound like a reason they should waive the etf. The etf has to do with you getting a subsidized phone, why should they waive that ?

They most likely will give you credit for a month or something, or offer you a device that will let you connect via wifi at home.

And if roaming is part of their service and it works, aren't they providing you what you're paying for ?

I think most big carriers will waive your fee if your reason for switching is you don't get acceptable service where you live or work

Use the BBB, FCC and others if you have a VALID complaint. I did (local tower issues).

Don't laugh but I faked my death to get out of my sprint contract. I didn't do it on purpose though so it's tongue in cheek.

Basically I called them and said I was leaving the country for a couple years and asked if they could put my contract on hold. They said that if I was in the military it wouldn't be a problem. I told them I wasn't. They said that if I was affiliated with the military that would be fine too. The girl kinda kept dropping hints. She said something along the lines of "would you being described as a military contractor work so that I could put you on hold?" I basically said "sure just go with that". So they put my contract on hold for I think 3 years. I never went back to the states though so I think they think I'm dead and I haven't heard a peep from them.

If they find out you lied about your death they will pursue fraud charges against you possibly. You will never be able to sign up for service with them either.

Only way to get out of etf is to roam excessively for a few months. Or just pay it. It should be prorated and what you sell your phone for should make up for the etf.

This advice, right here. Ignore it.

Bug them until they waive it. Unacceptable service is just that.

I didn't lie about my death. Worst case scenario is I have to pay $200 to end my contract if I move back to the USA.

It's well known that if you cost Sprint a few dollars in wholesale roaming for a few months in a row, they'll send you a letter saying "we beg of you, stop using our service--we'll even let you go for free!"

Eventually, they'll terminate your service, ensuring that they never see another dollar from you ever, because they don't want your business.

They'd rather lose a customer for the long haul than fix their network.

Keep calling and complaining. Threaten to cancel, complain some more and you'll get multiple account credits. By that time it should be enough to cover your ETF. That's what I did along with selling my phone.

There's also a way to force roaming on some phones I remember reading about. Do that and tether the shit out of it.

Sprint also claims that they are in the process of upgrading their towers/equipment in Mich due to the LTE coverage.

You can complain about piss poor service; but you had better be able to back it up.
If you show multiple connections over a period of time; you can have them check the length of the connections.

If you have a 3-5+ minute connection showing multiple times; then the connections issue goes out the window.

Sprint used to give a $0.50 credit for dropped calls; you need to complain about a drop every time.
