Anyhow, its wrong for you to think you did all the hard work.
Its your job and thats how it works in the business work.
The boss gets all the credit but he also gets all the blame when things go wrong.
A manager's job isn't to do the actual work, its to MANAGE.

I found that leaving a company is the easiest and fastest way to get promote or rasies.
I put in my notice after 5 months on the job and get a raise.
After 7 months, I was going to leave and they offered me store manager position.
After another 8 months, I wanted to leave again and got a raise again.

If you're a good worker and they know it, they money will start pouring in if you want to leave.
Just make sure you have another job/plan lined up.

You won't get screwed unless you let them.

You are in the position of power. Use it to your advantage. Ask to talk to the people directly that your boss is communicating with (HR?), tell them you understand their reluctance to promote both of you, but you are not pleased. You are willing to stay in your present position if they are willing to commit to an agreement that you'll be promoted as is possible. Get them to commit to an acceptable time frame and ask that they, as a sign of good faith on their part, give you some form of compensation for your patience.

No one has got your back like you can do yourself.
