Well I'm getting sick of trying to find a great gaming LCD at the moment, so I think I'll wait some more.

In the mean time has anyone used a Dell (Sony) P1230?

I'm looking to snag one of these in the meantime for gaming.

Found this one on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/22-NEW-Dell-Sony-P1...0QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

From what I gather this is suppose to be a Trinitron tube?

But I have seen some listed as saying Diamondtron

http://www.azatek.com/details.asp?iid=792

Anyone know if the one listed on ebay would be a Trinitron?

THANKS

P.S. Saw a good deal on a Dell P1130 but it's 21" so for a little more would rather get the 22" P1230 unless someone knows there isn't any viewable difference.

I know what exactly what you mean about trying to find a good LCD for gaming :) I've gone though 3 of the best on the market and I have always gone back to my diamondtron 930sb :) I bought a new LCD today to try it, the NEC 90GX2 I'll see how that goes. If it doesn't then that's it for me on LCD's until SED's come out.....I think the one your looking at on Ebay uses a trinitron tube.....

That guy on ebay has some bad write ups for this month, so makes me nervous to trust the guy, but it looks like I put it on my credit card, so that makes me feel a bit better.

Well I'd imagine these Sony trinitron CRTs should be pretty nice. I'd rather find a actual Sony model one, I hate buying anything with the name Dell on it, LOL

Does anyone know if Sony made a 22" Trinitron CRT?

THANKS

Just wanted to say I've had a Dell P1130 (rebadged Trinitron) for about 4 years now and it's still an amazing monitor.
I just don't like the 'feel' of LCDs for gaming yet... it very well might be in my head but I see ghosting on even the fastest panels on the market.

Hmmm I have a 930sb as well. Although I think it is good, it is dying on me. I am
getting flickers and sometime just a single white band is across the center of the screen.
I have to power it up and down several times in order to get it back. Searching the internet, it appears this is a common problem, even with replacements. Since it costs $90
to ship it back for warranty repair, Im thinking of getting a new lcd. I wish I knew what caps need
to be replaced, cause I am willing to do it myself...

Man, Mitsubishi CRTs were the best out there, I think. Too bad they discontinued CRT monitors :(
Btw DasFox, how is LCD for reading Word docs and internet articles ?
I'm gonna spend a lot of time working with MS Word mostly reading e-books.

Thank you...

LCDs are excellent for 2D, very nice crisp text for docs, reading, etc...

I just read this on ebay for the sellers of these monitors and a few other sites selling them.

P1130 21" Viewable Image: 19.86 inches (485 mm)
P1230 22" Viewable Picture Size 20.3 in.

It doesn't seem like there would be any noticeable difference in the viewing with these two, or would there?

THANKS

If you're willing to spend $300 - 400 check out some FW900's on Ebay ..It's a great monitor, and huge (22.5" viewable) , Here's a comparison pic: Link

Oh yeah I am most familar with the Sony FW900, but I didn't think I would find a good one on ebay for this much. I'm to worried I'll end up with problems and I live in Hawaii, the shipping alone will kill me if I have to ship it out for repairs, etc...

But I'm still considering it.

Some guy is trying to sell me a new Dell 2007FP for $335, actually that's quite cheap for that, so I told him you check it make sure it has no banding issues or background leakage and I'll give you $295 total shipped.

For that much HELL I might as well try it, LMAO, let's see if he takes it. ;)

The 21/22" ones have pretty much the same viewable size. However, I've never seen a Trinitron advertised as 22" while all of the Diamondtrons with that viewable size are 22". I think the seller's description is just inaccurate, as he also lists 140khz as the horizontal scan rate (there are no Trinitrons rated for that except the F520, which has a better grill pitch and no rebadges as far as I know).

The seller probably got it mixed up with the HP P1230, which is actually a different monitor (Mitsubishi 2070SB rebadge).

My guess is that this Dell P1230 is a Diamondtron, but a Mitsubishi 2060U rebadge with the Diamondtron NF tube (not the newer superbright one).

Forget I even considered this Dell, am I going nutts, those things are CRAP.

Well that seller on ebay I don't like his selling reviews, he has some pretty crappy reviews, so I'll look at just getting a Dell P1130, that is suppose to be a Trinitron.

Yeah the HECK with DELL DUDE, LMAO!

Ok Found a deal on a Dell, sheesh here we go again with a Dell, LOL.

Oh hell it's a Sony Trinitron. ;)

This guy on ebay will ship it to me in Hawaii:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...spagename=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1&rd=1

I think I'll snag this one, BUT I'm going to ask if I can call him or BEG him to PLEASE test it for me. I'll keep ya posted.

ALOHA

P.S. If It's brand new in the box and I get a receipt for it, will Dell still warranty it?

I got my used Dell P1130 for $90 in October from a private seller on Craigslist. It takes a little while for it warm up, but I love it.

8month old Viewsonic G90FB for $150 shipped off eBay FTW here. Tried a couple of LCDs and I just don't like them compared to a good CRT.

Ya my FW900 has a slow warmup period but it seems common according to other users ive talked to, assuming you have the same symptoms: Black levels are grey'ish at first but look great after warmup.

They might, but I think they would only repair it and not replace it, since all these CRTs were discontinued well over a year ago.

There is a guy on ebay selling an HP P1230 that you may want to look at. That monitor will be better than either of the Dells and the auction specifically says the HP warranty is valid on it.
