Getting service with a static IP

Hello all,

I have a question. My wife is working remote from home now and we need to get a business account that will have a static IP (for VPN purposes). My question is this...

I'm on limewire and IRC occasionally dloading a song or southpark episode here and there....should I be more scared now that my IP is static??? Eeeek!

No difference between static or dynamic IP address as far as ISP's knowing which client is doing what. They can always link your modem to an IP address at a given time.

Yep. All those RIAA consumer lawsuits certainly include lots of folks with dynamic IPs.

Plus, many "dynamic" IP addresses aren't very dynamic. I had the same IP address on my home's cable modem for four years, until I went to a Business account.

Shut off your limewire pc when not using it. I dont see how a static IP can be an issue as long as they dont come to visit your place of residence.
