<< We had one of those in my back yard. It caught like 3 yellowjackets, the 3rd one being a fatass and clogging the entrance. >>

I have memories of the rock method.

I also have memories of 21 stings.... Good thing I am not allergic.

From my many experiences of killing, or trying to kill, yellowjackets, remember that cold is your friend. Hit them first thing in the morning when they are sluggish. Use the chemical warfare (wasp spray) method, although I am sure that the amateur flame-thrower is more psychologically satisfying.

If you have juniper bushes around the house, get rid of them.

As far as keeping them away, the chemical residue helps a lot.

its summer, can't wait till it's cold :p

Vac em up? nah, waste of a good bag. It was just starting up, the one in the shed, so i figured a couple stings wouldn't kill me.. hehe.. sorta swatted at it and knocked it down, in the process swatting at the two that were buzzin around.. the third one ran away :p I think they were sleepin or something.. very slow.

Anyway, i went on my deck to that cart thing, and low and behold, there's another one. Got it the same way... sorta look into there and what not... wham, there's ANOTHER one.. but much bigger.... so i didn't quite want to torch my deck.. nor did i have any WD40 (stupid thing was empty). So i kinda drenched them in windex.. hey, it worked :)
