Everyday from 8am to 10pm nonstop, 7-10 times a day... so in my search to put a stop to them, I'd found something interesting and cheap. telezapper2
How well does this work?

I got on the national do not call list a year ago and it's worked wonders, and it was free. There was a 3 month wait for it to take effect however.

Political parties, surveyors, and people asking for donations (probably all not-for-profit groups in general) do not apply to the do not call list. So if your getting political calls you're stuck until November 3.

Nor does any company that you have had a business relationship with in the last 18 months, or one that has a current business relationship with you. They can all call you even under the DNC.

What works best IMO is 888-OPT-OUT5 and to tell every telemarketer to "Put me on your do not call list".

I like to be on their lists. It makes me feel like I am helping somebody to keep a job.....a really crappy, boring, annoying job....but a job none the less.

That's what happens when you sign up for all those freebies that requires your mailing address and phone number.

Takes 3 months right? well in the mean time, I'm going to use telezapper II just so I can sleep easier.
I have gone as far as unhooking my phone for a week, that's how annoying they can be and this did not stop them from calling afterward :(
My only solution was to cancel telephone altogether because SBC telephone=Telemarketer 24hrs day whether you are on do not call list or not...They even try to sell me service I don't need when calling in to talk to them about anything!

All the telezapper2 is, is a device that plays the first tone from the (dun-dun-dun Were sorry, but the numer you have dialed.....)
So if you go out and find that tone (http://www.astreet.com/tones/disconnected_tones.wav) and put that on your answering machine.. Let the machine get the call and tada, you have done everything the telezapper would have done.

i think i read about this on ATOT a long time ago, when i lurked.
someone investigated how 'telezapper' worked. it sends a SIT tone to the telemarketer, when their systems hear the SIT tone and automatically delete the number.

this person put the SIT tone before their message on the answering machine. i tried it before donotcall.gov came about and it seemed to work.

just be sure to tell the people that call you to expect that tone before the message comes on and not to automatically hang up thinking the number is out of service.

There's money for the telemarketer either way another doo-doo-doo SIT SCAM DEVICE
I've got a digital answering machine and it works great when using the recorded SIT Tone... They kind of shot themself in the foot with devices like this but hell that's one way to rid of them for a price, heee.
telezapper was selling for as much as 49.95, they know that their call annoys the hell out of us; there's really desperate people out there who will pay anything.
BTW, SIT tone = musical to my ears :)
If I remember correctly, telemarket trying to sell me a vacation to tennessee or some lottery crap.
often when I pickup, they hangup... sometime machine do the talking, not a live person

Ahh the joys of callerID and screening the call if it's not a number I recognize or a private caller :D

LMAO!!!!!! "This Product is Unnecessary.
Apr 12 '02 (Updated Jan 26 '03)

Author's Product Rating

Pros
Works for some telemarketing computers

Cons
Cost $50 when your answering machine and a SIT tone does the same for free.

The Bottom Line
This product is a great idea but it's totally unnecessary to pay up to $50 from something you can try for free.

My sister favorite is to tell them to hold & that she be right back; she just leave the phone off the hook & let them wait till they are tired & hang up.

some people think that by pissing off the telemarketer, they will stop calling. Guess what? wrong! a telemarketer with an attitude will call you and hang up on you everytime... yea that really is smart :)

the sit tone did not work well at all.. it was renewed by more telemarketer calls the next day :(

but I found something that works:

use a 56k modem in your computer and if you don't have one, buy one real cheap, run hyperterminal then and have it in answer mode. under call, wait for call. The End.
it will pick up after 1 ring, telemarketer will get zapped.

Working pretty good, now I get no call. Kewl right?
