Getting rid of old text books

I know I can post in the freebies thread, but who REALLY wants old math, phycis, and chemistry books anyways?

There is always ebay, but shipping will be a hassle.

Goodwill doesn't want them.

These are taking up shelf space in my library. I haven't thought much about any of that since I moved into IT and there is very litttle chance that I will EVER go back to it, so I want these gone.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

How old?

Craigslist is a good option to sell them cheap.

There are several book donation programs that take old textbooks to places like Africa.

Amazon marketplace. Shipping may be a hassle, but it's worth it. Just get some pre-made boxes from USPS, put them in there with some padding so they don't slide around and call it a day.

It's like... 15 minutes of time per book, maybe $4-5 shipping... those types of books usually go for some decent money.

I found a lady locally who takes them, sorts them, and finds homes for them, a lot of reservations and prisons will take them apparently.

Depending on how old they are, it is possible they might be worth something.

I used Bookbyte.com not long ago to turn some of what I thought was junk into about $35. They paid for shipping; all I had to do was pack it up which wasn't a big deal. They sent a check about a month later. It was easy.

This. Good idea to check multiple sites, though, I ended up sending my books to two different places because the prices and willingness to buy were different all over. A book that got me $25 one place would only get me $10 somewhere else. Just put together all your ISBNs and flood these sites with them and then sort through.

Excellent. I put in all of my books (about 40 ISBN's) and they said they would take 2! Thanks!
