Getting ready to hook up my TV room...component question

Heya - I finally bought a new Sony 27", which has one component in and one svideo in, as well as two other composites. I have a DVD player with component out, and am a new owner of a Gamecube and PS2. My cable box however is only composite.

Qurstion - Is it worth it to go all component with the video game systems and the dvd player? Would it be a huge quality increase over just S-video?

Second - If so, can I just use one of the $30 console/system audio/video switches you see in stores? i.e. they are for hooking up 4 systems to one connection via S-video, and Composite video/audio. Can't I just use this as a component-video switch box via the video/audio composite connections? The audio's just going to goto my receiver anyway.

Thx.

component over S-Video is going to be close.

I'd personally go with a combination that eliminates the switcher if possible.

On a 27" set artifacts are hard to see. If you were running a 42" or bigger components make more difference (of course a low quality TV would negate that too).

Well since there's only one component and one s-video, that would mean one of my game systems would be on composite...suck

I don't think composite will be so bad for a game system really, esp on a 27" screen.
