getting popup ads in subscriber forum??

I am getting a few popup advertisements while surfing the forums, and I am a subscriber... i thought that removed all the ads when u subscribed? this is the only IE window i have open and its on subscriber.anandtech.com

I, too, sometimes get popup ads, but I have been told numerous times that there are no popup ads on the subscriber server. I am always told that I get these ads because I am running some other service (such as morpheus, kazaa), but I know for a d@mn fact that its not coming from those since I don't run them.

well i am on an office pc and do not have any file sharing or other internet programs running besides internet explore and MSN messenger for inter-office instant messaging.

i haven't gotten a popup at all since becoming a subscriber. it has only been a little over a week, but still haven't had one. i run IE 6.0 at work and i run Opera 6.0 at home. no probs. 😕

I have been a subscriber since almost the beginning of the service and have gotten probably 7-10 total popups. They are very rare, but they do occur.

This is impossible, as there is absolutely no ad code in any template on any subscriber server. That is for sure. No idea where or how you guys are getting them but it is not from our servers. I'd start investigating elsewhere.

Zuni got it right, there's absolutely no way any banner or popup advertisements could be coming from the subscriber servers, there are no ad tags present at all in the subscriber code.

I've been a subscriber since the day it went live, and have never had a popup, or any banner in any form. I use a variety of systems/OSs and browsers.

I have also been a subscriber since they first started charging members... I had not seen popups until today, but I think I may know what the prob is. I opened up IE and type forums.anandtech.com from old habit (habit since oct. 99 to be exact) and of course realized when it took 10 minutes to go to the page that I typed in the wrong address. I re-typed the url to subscriber.anandtech.com, logged in, then logged in to the forums and was surfing the boards and then I received 2 popups in a row. it must have been leftover popups from forums.anandtech.com, thats all I can think of.. but they didnt pop up until 3-5 minutes after I had logged into subscriber.anandtech.com


speaking of this, when I log in from work I dont have my password saved in cookies since its pc shared between the different shifts here, and its kinda a hassle to have to login twice. (once to access the subscribers. server and a second time to be able to post). non-subscribers only have to login once, is there any way to make it so that when u login to the subscribers server u dont have to re-login to be able to post ?

If you're a subscriber, that address is supposed to automatically redirect you to the subscriber server isn't it?



I've been a subscriber for months and have never had a popup from Anand.

I have been on the subscriber channel since day one and have not encountered a popup ad.

Same here. I get them occasionally from other sites, never had one here with mozilla, netscape, konqueror, or IE.

Only if you set the cookie. From the sounds of it they aren't checking the "remember my login" box.
