The first week is all fun and games until you start paying all your bills and realise you have to budget the remainder out.

That is all

Getting paid is always good. Getting paid regularly is even better. All the rest is icing.

Got switched to monthly switching from staff to manangement on last promotion. Agree, would prefer bi-monthly.

Had that once. It sucked at first but eventually was fine. I actually kind of like every two weeks because I tailor my budget to four weeks of pay and then twice/year get an extra pay check I hadn't really accounted for.

Friend works for a Israelli software company here in the US and gets one check a month. Sucks.

I understand why you dont like it, but I find it makes me live more within my means to actually think about I have X amount for 30 days and I've got to think about how I will spend it.

I thought most everyone got paid weekly.

Being paid monthly would be fine though. Pay all of your monthly bills, then budget the rest for savings, groceries, and gas.

You really shouldn't have a problem with getting paid monthly unless you're just starting out. If you can't handle it after a few months then you really need to figure out how to control your money. It's the same amount of money each month, if there's a problem its with you, not your pay schedule.

I don't really care either way, especially not for the reason given. I would have no issue budgeting out for the rest of the month.

If I were forced to choose, I'd probably take bi-weekly for the mini-bonuses every 6 months.

I could see that being hard indeed. I guess if you budget everything properly it comes up to the same thing though.

What I would really love is if I had more flexibity on when bills come out. It would be awesome to be able to get gas, hydro, taxes, insurance etc etc all come out on the same day. That way I know I don't have any other bills for the rest of the month. I do have my mortgage setup biweekly, and my taxes set monthly, so that's not too bad, those are the big ones. Every time the city taxes come out, I cry a little inside. I usually don't see that week's paycheck at all.

How is this any harder than getting paid every two weeks once you are beyond the first pay cycle?

With my current job I only have a few 100 bucks left over at the end. I keep running into unexpected expenses so yeah it's tight. I had a good savings going on for a while but blew it all in the past few months. Server issues, cat issues, etc

I'm pissed at my employer because I recently got a new job which will make me more money, but they aren't moving me to it. Been waiting for like half a year. Been looking elsewhere for a job, sick of their games.

Meanwhile been working on brainstorming ways to make money on the side, problem is almost everything is considered a conflict of interest, which makes having a second income very hard.

Also unlike most people here I don't make 6 figures. :awe:
