I ran a red light....or supposedly did so. Anyone get out of one of these situations? Anyone know a quick fix for this? Know any lawyers?

By the way, this is in the Los angeles area.

You can always plead not guilty, talk to the guy and ask to bring it down to "Unsafe Operation."

Gonna pay a lot though.

Quickfix is pay the ticket.

Longer fix is plead not guilty, go to court, hope for plea bargain

Alternate is ticketassassin.com

Or, just wait for all the Holier Than Thous to show up and yell at you and not offer any worthwhile advice.

Yeah, I need to start making that post a generic response I can copy/paste for these threads, since I prefer to not go the route of "Pay the ticket dumbass" like the rest. :D

wait. i got a better idea.

what you need to do is go gonzo on the police. drive really fast past the police station laying on your horn. you should be doing as close to 110mph as possible. when the police give chase, lead them on a 3 hour minimum high speed pursuit. when they are close to catching you quickly take some drugs so you can't feel pain, and then when you get pulled over resist arrest and fight the police. then after they kick the crap out of you, hire johnny co......errr.

no wait he's dead. nevermind.

Got out of one last year when the cop didn't show up for court. I was all ready for the court battle but the cop didn't show up. You'll have to explain what happened for this thread to be of any use.

What was your side of the story?
where was the cop when he saw you?
what time of day?
was the cop a young guy?
etc. be as descriptive as possible (in the 1st post please), then we can help.

if it is your first offense, or your first offense in a while then plead not guilty and you will go to traffic court and it will probably be pleaded down to something like unsafe operation of a vehicle with no insurance points.

In my experience 'the system' is suprisingly reasonable

In NC, we have something called "Prayer for Judgement Continued"

What is a Prayer for Judgment Continued (PJC)?
A Prayer for Judgment Continued (PJC) is a request of the court to hold the judgment of Guilty to a traffic citation for three years. The Judgment will be held by the court as long as the person making the request does not receive another moving violation in the next three years. After 3 years under PJC without another judgment of Guilty, the matter is removed from your record as if it did not happen.

Does your state have anything like that?

I got a speeding ticket...I know it's not exactly the same, but I didn't have to pay the ticket or court cost because the cop never showed...I DID have to go to defensive driving...Not too bad...

Just plead guilty...But actually go to court, don't mail in the payment...In my experience (my uncle's a judge), judges look kinder on someone who shows up...shows an admission of responsibility...

You are going to hell.

Ohh ya, your an idiot for speeding/running red lights/etc, you could have killed someones family.
