Yeah when I do my heavier free weights, like squats, shoulder press, bench press, barbell curl... I always do A LOT of warmups before I get to my working set. Usually I do like 4-5 warmup sets until I'm at my working weight.

I turn 42 next month and I'm nearly tied with being the strongest I've ever been in my life, which was like late 20's or so probably. It feels good but I definitely do more warmups now than I used to and I hope that I can stay as injury free as possible. Today I squatted the most I've ever done in my life, which I had also done back in the day, and it felt pretty damn good.

My friend who is a personal trainer tore his left pec because he was trying to lift heavy. At the time he was about your age. When you get older, stretching is a must. I always stretch now and do a bunch of warm ups before actually lifting weights. The worst thing you can do is lift heavy while cold. A 5-10 minute warmup on the treadmill is also a must. When I was 25 I could just go into the gym and start lifting heavy. Can't do that anymore.

That's a lot! I walk daily about 45 minutes non-stop from work to home and may do some squats. The walking would be hard to do if I didn't have a good reason for it.
Yeah my shoulder is feeling like 95% now so I'm lifting heavy and am bulking up. I'm almost as strong as I was at the strongest of my life like around my late 20's or so. I actually squatted the most I've ever done in my life last week.
