Yes, you swallow blood for the first few days and your teeth will bleed like crazy when you brush them, but it's no big deal.

I didn't have anything resembling the horror stories some people tell. Just ice like it's your birthday and you'll be golden. Good luck bro.

I had mine done 2weeks ago and also didn't have any pain. I had to take the antibiotic amoxillin (sp?) for about a week. Anyone want to see pics?

Got mine taken out on the 10th and I'm still hurting. I think my was a little more difficult than usual though. Hope you fare better than me.

although this THREAD is about a root-canal, you'll probably have the same type of experience

j/k... when I had mine out, my jaw felt tired for a half-day. I think I took at most 2 pain killers... and only because my mommy told me to -- not because I was in pain.
I was eating normal food (carefully) the next day. But I guess some people have problems. Good luck.

i've had 2 root canals. While they weren't pleasent, they weren't as bad as some people say. (Or maybe I just got lucky...)

I have some really bad impacted ones. Poster with the Xray link, both my bottoms are just like your left hand jaw. They bother me alot lately and I am trying to gather up my stones to get them pulled. I am also a pussy when it comes to the dentist!

If you're worried about vomiting the most (which is kinda funny, as vomiting scares me as well), make that you don't get gasses and don't take painkillers. I've had six teeth removed on three different occasions (the last operation removed the wisdom teeth) and only used the laughing gas once, because of how sickening that stuff is. Normally the only reason they use it is so you aren't so worried during the beginning part and the shot, so if you ask for them to not use it, they probably won't. Painkillers can also cause some dizziness, and while those didn't make me sick, if you're the type of person who can't ride on roller coasters or spin on swivel chairs, they certainly could make you vomit. The last thing to worry about is that tons and tons of blood will be oozing through your gums, and if you swallow enough, you will get an upset stomach. To prevent swallowing blood, the dentist should give you a big packet of cotton balls to stick in your mouth.

The happy gas is awesome, I was flying the whole time. But the surgery itself sucks I could feel them breaking and prying at the teeth, and the gas didn't kill all the pain. It didn't help that I discovered my allergy to perkaset in the next 24 hours too :(. Nothing beats recovering from wisdom teeth surgery without pain medication and such severe nausea over the next 24 hours that you can't even drink water.

omfg that sounds horrible, i'm like scared to death of barfing :(

I went to a hosptial, they knocked me out and I woke up suddenly and began vomiting blood for about five minutes. Have fun!

I had mine taken out a week ago. I had it done by a Maxillofacial surgeon, which is more specialized that a dentist, because all 4 had to be taken out. I had a general anaesthesia, so it seemed like a second and then I was awake. Recovery was fine -- he did a great job. I was sent home with some Tylenol T3's, but I only used them once. I recovered in about 3 days. The only medication I used was Ibuprofen(Advil) and the antibiotic(penicillin). It was fine.

I had no problems. 30 minutes later, I went to my managers' meeting. I only used 2 pieces of gauze and I had no bleeding (all 4 were pulled...yes, I became much stoopiderer).
Get ready for lots of jello and yogurt and fluid. GL (make sure you are under general, not local anesthsia).

That sounds like what I did.
