I reformatted and reinstalled everything a couple of days ago and now want to reconfigure my home network (desktop and laptop). In the network settings I now have:

Client for Microsoft Networks
Realtek RTL8029(AS)PCI Ethernet Nic
Internet Connection Sharing(protocol)
TCP/IP
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks

What else do I need to enable?

Thx
Gary

Btw I am running Win98 SE

You should make sure each PC has a unique Name, and both are in the same Workgroup. Additionally, you may want to assign a unique IP address to each of the PC's, under the same subnet mask (you don't necessarily need to assign each pc a unique IP address for them to communicate, it just makes things easier for possible troubleshooting).

Other than that, you should be sharing some sort of device on each PC. After making these changes, reboot both pc's and check your Network Neighborhood to see if you can see the other pc.
