Getting my laptop ready to sell

Im deciding to sell my Dell Laptop and putting it on EBAY. Before I do that how do I go about deleting all confidental information like creditcard info, pictures, etc.

Any good basic data recovery program can recover your old data. Your safest bet is a lowlevel format, THEN do a clean install.

We actually took part in a news bit here recently where the reporter bought a bunch of used pc's in the paper and then brought them to us at our store to recover data. They were amazed at what we found for them, we weren't amazed, it's fairly common if you aren't careful.

get the software for your harddrive from the maker and just write 0's to it

Nowadays you have to literally destroy a hard drive into tiny pieces to rid it of confidential data - and even then you're still not safe. My suggestion is to keep your laptop hdd and replace it with a new one or someone elses used one LOL.
