While this forum seems to have its fair share of Civic haters (there's some guy here with a Mustang who thinks his car's the sht, he's annoying as hell but whatever) - point is, if you're looking for a car with nimble handling, rock solid reliability, and excellent fuel efficiency get a Civic. I personally love the 99-00's, and a low mileage one should definitely be in your price range.

SLCentral - what have your parents recommended? Since they're buying it, that's important to know 😉

Most kids who post this, end up getting whatever their parents recommend. AT'ers love to flock in with their favvorite brand though 😀

My parents don't really care, but they are leaning toward something Japanese. They both drive BMW's, but they have left the decision mostly open to me.

Well in that case I say you start advocating for Bimmers and try to work it up to 10Kish. Then get yourself a hwy mileage M3. If that is too hard-core get a 328is or 325is, both have excellent engines and the fun factor cannot be duplicated...

If your budget is $6k, then you need to be looking for a car that is $6k (give or take $1k for haggling purposes)... isntead of looking at the type of car first.
