so if I want to get cash out of my credit card, how much can I usually get? on my statement, the "cash advance" is always my whole limit, so can I easily get all that money out? Is it no questions asked?

you have to pay interest on that from the second you withdraw it, even if you pay the bill on time and thats a huge interest rate. If that doesn't bother you then yeah, no questions asked they will give it to ya.

You can get up to whatever your cash advance limit is. $300 max from the ATM, but if you go inside any bank, they will cash advance you as much as you need. (At least this is how it worked for me when I did it)

I just run my card through at the restaurant I work at and get the cash from the register.
:)
(I only use a debit card, but I believe other employees have done cash advances that way)
That way, it shows up as a purchase.

if you are in school, add more classes and pay the tuition with your credit card. then you drop it and ask for the refund check.

Yes. Very true. I believe this is due to the fact that the credit card company (e.g. Visa) doesn't get their 3% from the merchant if you were to make a purchase, so they get you with the higher interest rate.

Never take money from a credit card cash advance. Not only is there a cash advance fee, but the interest starts to take effect immediately, plus some cards have a separate (higher) interest rate for cash advances.

It's a bad idea for 2 reasons:

1) Cash advance does NOT have a 25 grace period, your interest begins immediately the same day you withdraw it.
2) Your cash advance interest is usually HIGHER than purchases.

Unless it's a real emergency, bad idea.

Also unless you pay off your total balance they will continue to charge you interest on the cash advance until you have a zero balance on your monthly statement.

This is a bad idea, borrow some money from a friend or family member or sell something. I had to do this to cover rent once (damn roommate) and I got raped by the CC co.
