Getting Married

So, I don't belong to any church and I'm getting married next October. Where do I find someone to do the service? What are they called? I don't really want any religious official, but still want to have a ceremony with vows and such. Anyone know who and where you find them?

call city hall, they should have a list.

Probably depends on where you live, but usually Judges, Justices of the Peace, other government officials can perform a civil ceremony (and will have done so before).

You could have someone you know get ordained by the Universal Life Church for free in a few minutes online, they should be able to do the ceremony after that.

This. I was in the same situation as you. Got one of my good friends (who is a good pub speaker) ordained, gave him a semi-script for the ceremony and gave him some freedom to personalize. It was awesome!!! Very personal and meaningful. Plus free!

look in your local phone book for wedding chapels, they arent usually religion-specific at all, and usually have a decent video set up for filming. the one we used took 4 different angles as well as copies of what 3 of my family members taped and edited a kick ass video.
