Ok my friend is messing around with Linux. How does he go about setting up the networking on his end so that he can use DSL via my Win98se box that shares the connection with ICS over the internal LAN?

Thanks,

Jim

Just set the Linux box to btain IP through DHCP and you are good to go as long as ICS is setup correctly.

P.S. I am doing this right now as well. Eventually, I want my Linux box to be my router.

thanks, that is what i figured and I know ICS is working because 3 other computers are sharing the internet without a problem.

Do I just tell netscape that the internet connection is the LAN? BTW I havent used netscape forever.

If you can ping an internet host from the linux box, everything else will work. Be careful though, Win98 ICS may not give out a vaild DHCP packet. I've had problems with that before. If it works for you, great. If not, give the linux box a static IP, with the gateway 192.168.0.1

No, you don't have to do anything with Netscape. It's allready configured.
