How about that for a nice cheap laptop! Check it out here

EDIT: Comes complete with a Billy Ray Cyrix DX4-75 CPU, too! Grade B, so it has some issues.

EDIT: Just checked again and the price dropped to $67.95 and it is no longer a geek special so you can get 10% off for a net of $61.16 before shipping, which is $8 ground to Tx. for me.

I'm not sure that's worth $79, it has a 10" 640x480 screen... that's awful.

The price has dropped to $67.95 now. Also it is no longer a "geek special" so the 10% off code should work making it $61.16 + shipping.

For everyday computing, it might not be so hot. For something like this, it'd be perfect...it's good enough for the job, and it's cheap enough that if something happens to it, you're not out that much money.

Check out ebay before you buy this one.
I've been purchasing more than five IBM ThinkPad 560E (12.1" TFT, P-166, 2GB) or 365 around similar prices, even though the cosmetic of the cases are not the top notch. Usually corporate leased machines with ugly stickers on it, but they work just fine. Some times you can score mint condition one which is personally used.

sitting back in 1994 staring a PC Shopper, I never thought i'd see the day when this price would hit. :Q

I was thinking the same thing. Just imagine years from now if the special is for a slow 1 GHz laptop with sxga screen. By then I hope we're building our own laptops too.

Well just a couple of years ago, I spent >$1000 for the same ThinkPads. As somebody said, the best time for buying a notebook computer is on one's deathbed :p

Very true... but laptops do hold their value much longer than a desktop of the same vintage. Who would pay more than $20 for a 486 (Cyrix nonetheless) desktop box?? Not me!

slap linux on it, throw in a wireless card and voila, cheap, instant, portable terminal. At least it's dual scan! =p
