All day today nothing but snow squall after snow squall.

Arctic air is crossing our region and lake effect squalls are hitting all over this area. I went out to test my new winter coat and boots this afternoon. They passed with flying colours by keeping me nice and warm with the snow and cold winds.

There were lots of accidents reported here and the streets are getting worse with the temp drop. Whiteouts are occurring every 20 mins or so as the squalls roar through. Environment Canada says we may get between 15 and 25 cm of snow tonight.

what a crappy day to be outside.

I've been outside hunting all day. Whiteout conditions a couple of times, I shot some video of it, may upload it later. It got so bad up here that I had to "retreat" to the next road over. Haven't seen a damn deer all day. Can't wait to get home and have some hot chocolate.

Woohoooo! Frozen peanut butter cups in my pack.

Damn you Mother Nature! Another snow squall blasting me. Still hoping the deer head toward the fields at dusk.

I got a new wood stove last month. It welcomes the snow. My snow thrower and car won't but they'll just have to get used to it.

Haha, I saw the thread and thought that the OP must live in London, Ontario.

I use to live in London and the snow squalls would make my drive to work treacherous. I had to commute to Tillsonburg.

Funny, we used to get hit with these big storms all the time, now it seems it's the south that gets everything. You can keep it though, thanks. :p

We only have a few inches of snow on the ground even though it's almost December. Been snowing a bit more in the past few days though.

I live an hour down the 401 and will likely not get anything :)

Local Police say over 100 accidents occurred today and one fatality. A 42 year old woman was killed in a 3 car pile up.

401 was shut down due to a multi-car pile-up caused by a jack knifed semi.

its still snowing, ugh.

:(

We are getting the first decent lake effect snowfall of the year here in central NY. I love it.

We had a quick one today while I was at work this evening. Just cold outside, zero snow, and all of a sudden the wind started howling like crazy. I thought it was the beginning of a tornado! I went to the nearest window to look outside and snow was coming in. Lasted maybe 10 or 15 minutes then disappeared. Wasn't expecting that!

We only got about 1 1/2 inches total. Wind chill was 9 below zero (according to NOAA & the local weather conditions) around the time I left the woods. Then, I got to spend another hour and a half outside at home doing my chores. Spent all of 2 hours in the woods this morning, decided that they deer were bedded down, keeping warm, and I ought to do the same.

And yet 20 minutes west in Dutton we have sunny skies and not even the tiniest bit of snow. Not much snow west of highway 4 at all.

Enjoy your shovelling!

No snow in Toronto but we did break a record low last night. They're saying it went down to -12c at the airport. That's like January weather.

This is what it was like when I was out hunting, though at times the snow got so heavy you could only see a couple feet. At those times, I wasn't worried about taking video - I was worried about covering myself. I knew deer wouldn't be moving, so I hiked a few miles through that, looking for any sign of bedded deer. When the snow let up, with the white background, I could see several hundred yards. (And have a range of about 300 yards.) Not a single deer was sighted, just 2 flocks of turkeys, and the tail of what appeared to be a fox.

lol, your video got censored.

yeah, it was pretty bad depending on the squall. Oddly, the west end of London got hit with 2 feet of snow, while the east (me) got less.

what city/county are you located? I saw lots of squalls hitting Western NY yesterday.

Eastern Cattaraugus County, that was shot just a couple hundred yards from the Pennsylvania line, facing north. Maybe half an hour earlier, I had noticed that the edge of the squall line was almost perfectly aligned with the PA border - where I was standing, no snow; 50 feet away, it looked like that. Then, it stopped, briefly. When it restarted, it sucked.

Fixed the video link; not sure what link I posted.

Is snow squall a Canadian term? I have never heard it before in my life. Wikipedia references Canada so I'm guessing it is.
