Getting Firefox to run separate processes

Is there any way to get FF to spawn windows in a new process? All the stuff I've Googled so far seems not to work. I love FF, but I'm getting sick of it taking down all my open windows when the app we're working on does something that farks the browser.

I wonder if running 2 Firefox instances hooked into two different profiles would force that.

firefox (at least the Linux options):
-no-remote Open new instance, not a new window in running instance.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've read about the profile trick, but that's way too much bullshit, especially since I might have 3-5 windows open, and I don't want a crash in any of them to take down the others. IE has an option to do this by default, and it would be nice if FF had the same, but I guess it doesn't. Seems like a huge architectural mistake to me, especially with richer Internet apps being the current trend, with more opportunities to fark a browser instance.
