Getting FIOS installed right now

The Verizon guy is over here installing fiber. 25Mbit up, 25Mbit down.



Sadly its just for the summer. When I move back to Austin, I have to go back to my crappy 8Mbit down, 0.4 Mbit up Time Warner cable.

Just check your bill and make sure they are not accidently charging you for the wrong thing. Happened to me when I got a FIOS TV/Internet package.

The cheap plan was 25 down 15 up. This was only a few bucks more, and its shared among 3 roommates, so why not?

I can measure mine in Mbps. Unfortunately it gets truncated to zero due to least significant digits

The internet speeds are great but I was really surprised how much better their HD programming looked compared to Time Warner (I have a 50" Kuro Plasma).

Time Warner must really compress their video compared to what Verizon does with FIOS.

Are you just getting internet or are you getting video services as well?

The only cheaper option was $30 for 6Mbit cable, which isn't fast enough for some of the things we need to do.
