getting files from FTP using flashget

I want to share files over a network with a friend but they are large files so i thought using flashget and its multi file request features would speed up the process... the problem is that i dont know how to do this. I can set up a ftp server but dont know what the format is for my friend to access the files.. is it something like:

ftp://213.32.54.213/d:\downloads\file.*

if there is a better solution it would be appreciated because i dont think the built in file transfer software of windows is very quick. thanks
