Getting crappy performance, help?

I just cant figure out how to improve my performance in call of duty. In 3-4 MP maps my fps drops to 10-20, which is unacceptable to me :[ I've tried reinstalling the game, 4 different sets of drivers, adjust every setting and no matter what i do the fps still drops to 15.
Specs:
9800 Pro
MSI K8N Neo Plat
1 GB Corsair XMS PC3200
A64 3000+
I'm all out of ideas. Anyone help me out?

I owuld idg into yoru BIOS and make sure you APG apeture is set up properly,a dn that your RAM and CPU are reading right.

Your video card may be getting hot. Are you overclocking? Is the original heatsink still on it? What drivers are you using? Catalysts can be finicky with OpenGL games.

I dont really know, how do I check? I have the 380W PS that came with the antec sonata. My performance is really pretty weird, turning up/down AA/AF makes no difference at all, i still lag in the same places. I get a 5900 in 3dMark03 which seems to be pretty good for my setup. Any other ideas?

New problem, whenever i move my mouse quickly in a game the game will stuter after about 30 degree turn. My comp sucks right now 🙁 didnt think i'd be having probs after 3 weeks

This may sound odd, but have you checked for spyware type programs running on your system? You have a nicely configured system so something is eating away at your resources. When you bring up task manager and click on the Performance tab, how much memory are you using?

Additionally, it could be your network connection, though I have not had to deal with that in a while and don't exactly remember the symptoms of this. Stuttering did seem to be an issue with this though.

Yea - looking at his setup, he shoulddn't be having those kinda problems.

Do you get these type of performance problems in any other games also or just COD?

Not sure if this matters all that much, but was that a fresh installed card or an upgrade? Did you shift to Cat 4.7 from another ati driver? If so...did you use something like driver-cleaner to get rid of the old drivers?

Everything put together at same time a few weeks ago... I used driver cleaner each time i tried a new driver. Memory isnt being significantly used. Have run latest version of ad-aware, nada. I'm getting 5850 on 3dmark03 which seems about right, but i even tried counter-strike and i get this kind of lag playing it. Get the same lag with single player COD so i dont think it's the connection 🙁
