I'm getting a plan from Sprint. Anyways, if I have a phone already, and I'm a new customer, and I activate it online, how does it work? Will the phone number get assigned automatically? And how long does it take before I can use the phone?

Sprint customer service is absolute sh1t. But, on the other hand, they have some of the best plans for total minutes. It's a trade off. There are assigned numbers for the most part and they activate the chip inside. Usually takes two hours, or so.

My work provides a Motorola i90 by Nextel for me which is much better than Sprint. But, I keep my Sprint because I like the Kyocera.

Sprint's customer service certainly is crap... I've been with them for 2 years and the only reason is because I get a 25% discount from work. I hardly ever have to call into them... but when I did those couple of times... they didn't even make note of what I asked them.

Also be careful that some phones may not work with some providers. You are much better off calling them first and verifying... then go back online if there's a deal there that's online-only.

I've heard AT&T & Verizon are better. With Sprint, many people don't get a signal from inside their house... I believe that's due to the quality of the phone as well... I used to get 3 bars in my room with a Nokia and now my Sanyo gets 1, barely. Nice phone otherwise. ;)
