Getting called for a 3rd interview!!!!1

So I"m trying to get this app development position at this bank. I got an initial phone screening for the position by which point they asked me to come in for an interview. I interviewed with the hiring manager then with the VP of IT. I then was asked to come in again for a 2nd interview which then I interviewed with the app developer and database admin. I waiting till friday by which I contacted them asking about the status. She indicated they are interviewing 2 more people that day. So I got an email Monday from the hiring manager (assistant to the VP) that she wants me to come in friday to meet with the Manager of the VP or the Pres of IT dept?????

I mean I want to get a job not meet with everybody in there. It's not like I'm trying to get a job at NASA? How would you respond to this?

This is either typical for them or they are at a toss-up between you and another (maybe more than one) applicant. Times likes these, just be happy you are getting interviews dude...

That is standard nowadays. Gone are the days where every new grad had 5 job offers line up. Nowadays employers carefully screen each candidate and require multiple skillsets.
If you don't like the process, tell them you don't want to interview.

Yep there are a lot of people looking for work in some areas. Don't be smug or stuck up if you want the job. But ask the hard questions to make sure it will be a good fit unless you don;t have a job then just do your best.

Man up and tell them: "No. This isn't NASA. I'm not coming to a 3rd interview. I want to get a job, not meet everyone at your company," and see what happens. You can also just say yes and go interview, but that'd be less interesting.

I know of a member who had SIX interviews with a company and ended up not getting the job.

thats a little ridiculous imo.......unless they are planning to hand over the reigns of the company to you it should be clear by now if they want you or not. This 3rd interview stuff would be indicative of a stuffy bureaucratic work culture I'd want no part of.

Well, I'd respond one of two ways:

1) If I wanted the job, I'd thank them and come in for the interview.

2) If I didn't want the job, I'd balk at the idea of coming in for another interview and would ask them if it was really necessary.

I'd say go. If after this 3rd interview they STILL want you to come back again for a 4th, I just say screw it. If they can't decide by the 3rd interview if they want you it's probably a good indicator of how well their company is being run.

Yeaps. Lots of people I knew then had jobs lined up. I knew people in their 3rd year of college scoring jobs that would be available to them when they graduated in a year.

I think it really depends on the industry and the skillset you have. I ended up applying for ~25 jobs. I ended up with offers from three before I accepted my current one (and had an interview offer for a fourth) last month...and I am in a field that is "not doing well."

A new VP at Fidelity had to go through 15 interviews ... it happens

When I interviewed at Financial Times, I went thru 4 interviews - was offered the job and then I turned it down (got a better counter offer) ... they weren't too happy heh

In these times, be happy that you're getting a call back

We just interviewed for a new principal's job at my h.s. Essentially, each candidate had 3 separate interviews the first day - a team of 10 or 12 teachers and other staff, a team of administrators, and a team of parents. Then, they had to come in for a "second" interview with the board. I'm thrilled to death that the candidate I wanted to get the position was offered the job. I'm even more thrilled that the candidate who completely fooled the parent team didn't get the job. (And, I'm still wondering how those parents were fooled so easily, except that there was one parent who didn't like the teacher who was offered the position.)
Anyway, the total interview time was about 4 hours per candidate for the top two candidates.
