Hi, I recently upgraded my computer which i was very excited about until i started receiving BSOD from the very beginning I started installing Windows Vista 64-bit. So here is my setup

CPU: qx6850 (not OC'd)
Motherboard: Asus p5w deluxe (latest bios, 2205 I think)
Memory: OCZ Platinum 2 gb (2 1gb sticks)
RocketRaid controller
Sound: Using onboard sound for now. ( I think this could be the problem)

Anyway, I get the BSOD that says "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL." I don't really know what is causing it at all besides maybe the onboard audio. For some reason when I try to disable it in bios, the next time I restart the computer, its enabled again. Anyway, if you need any more info just let me know. Please help me figure this problem out or help me come up with possible solutions. Thanks.

UPDATE: So I was just in safe mode and I restarted the comp and I received the same BSOD.

So the technical information that shows up on the BSOD is:

STOP: 0x0000000A (0xFFFFFA7FFFD00028, 0x0000000000000002, x000000000000001,
0xFFFFF80009888AAB)

Also, I can't even reinstall Windows Vista 64 bit, when it gets to the setup screen, I receive the BSOD)

This is likely to be a RAM problem-
Try upping the voltage slightly in BIOS. What speed is your RAM running at?

If that doesn't work run memtest.

Definitely sounds like a bad RAM issue: Since you got a BSoD in Safe Mode too it's unlikely to be a driver-related problem.

Like montag451 said, try upping the RAM voltage little by little until you are at an stable spot (don't go much higher than 2V). If that doesn't work, run Memtest86 to see if the RAM is bad. Leave it running overnight.

If it picks up anything, it's time to see which of the sticks is bad, or if both need to be RMA'ed. Run memtest again with just one stick at a time to see which one errors out.

Ah I see, the tech guy at Asus said that OCZ doesn't run well with their boards, so I guess that could be the problem. I'm on Windows XP now and it works better but still BSOD here and there but not as many. I'll try upping the voltage a little. I have my ram running at 1000 Mhz. But hey one last question on opinions if you had a choice between the Asus P5W deluxe and the Abit IP35, which would you go for? THanks for the advice though.
