So the question is:

Do you think that celebrities get away with their crimes because they are treated differently and the law sets their own rules upon them, or just because they have more money for better lawyers and better lawyers do a better job at finding reasons, case citing, etc and give them a better chance to win.

The analogy is, a tax specialist will help you find a ton of loophole and keep you rich vs HR Block doing your taxes for you.

Of course they do.

Judges are pretty much the last say in a court decision. It boils down to their own personal beliefs and values. Why do you think lawyers try to work the system when a judge they know personally is on a case of theirs? Judge gets up there..."Ah, shit, I remember you from that there moo-vay..." And then they are scott free.

Nevermind. I thought you were asking how to get away with it.

The money defintely helps but I think it is the relentless media spotlight that ends up tainting the proceedings more than anything else. Everyone involved, the judges, the attorneys, and the jurors if it gets to that point are aware that their every move and decision will be endlessly debated and second guessed. It is virtually impossible to assemble a jury that has not read about the case before it even gets to trial plus they will likely already have a preconceived idea of what the person is all about based on what they are famous for.

Having limitless money to spend on a team of lawyers gives an almost unfair advantage over everyone else. At the very least they're able to draw out the court proceedings for years and keep delaying things.

I'd say both.
