Getting around a transparent proxy

My ISP has recently implemented a transparent proxy on its network. Any web activity that I do goes through that. Since I am a stickler on privacy and don't want to take the chance of anyone looking at my web traffic, can I get around that? I have used various public proxies in IE, but it is no use. I verified this by accessing a webserver that I have ssh access to outside of the network and it keeps showing the IP of that damn proxy. The IP is 63.92.154.254 if you want to take a look at it. Also, 63.92.154.253 seems to be something else that is similar, but I can't quite figure out what it is or how it is related.

Let me know if you find anything out and any advice you may have of trying to stay as anonymous as possible.
 
Do you have an internal ip address? Can you find an ssl proxy? Of course that may not work either.... Did you install software from your new isp?
 
This is not a new ISP. They have just put in a transparent proxy to save some bandwidth. I know this because I used to work there. I don't have an internal IP address and there was not software to install. All web traffic automatically goes through the proxy without any user interaction. I don't know what they are monitoring at this proxy and that is why I want to get around it. I think all traffic such as HTTP, FTP, SSL, Gopher, etc go through this transparent proxy. It looks like the proxy is a Squid proxy, but I am not for sure. Any suggestions?
 
Did you try to uncheck in IE connect thru a proxy server (auto detect ) ? That might help you .

good question. if it is truely a transparent proxy I can't devise any way to get around it. All your traffic is directed to this box and it...well...proxies. This would be setup with their routing tables.
 
Sorry to say it, but it sounds like you're stuck. The firewall we have at work does some proxying in a similar manner to what you described, and, well, unless you have someone put your connection on a shunt, your're SOL.
 
I figured as much. I guess it was worth a shot. I just wish I had some way of seeing what they are seeing. I hate knowing that someone can simply tap into my web traffic anytime they want and see whatever I am going to.
 
kind of like someone taping into your phone conversations and you not knowing it. exact same scenario, any phone call you make on this planet can be traced/recorded.
