Getting an error on boot in Win2K

Since an attempted install of VB6 (which just didn't take) a couple of weeks ago, I've had a few problems. I had to run the restoral from CD where the OS copies in a bunch of old files. Now I've been getting a Blue Screen error message stating that there might be problems and I should reboot. On rebooting, the OS launches fine. Now, I have not reloaded SP1 since the restoral. Should I:

a) just reload SP1, it ought to fix the problem.
b) reload the entire OS, it's going to continue to be a problem until it's reloaded.
c) ignore it, a blue screen is just Microsoft's way of saying 'Hullo'.

Any input would be appreciated.

win2k "remembers" which files are in SP1 and 2, so you don't need to reinstall the service pack.

what's the blue screen error say exactly?

there is sp2 out there. It might be worth the try. It's 103 mb though.

It says that there may or may not be a problem, and to reboot. If I get this error again, then I need to run the fix utilities on the CD.

Ya, I know not having the details doesn't help too much. Anyone who's gotten it would most likely remember it.

So you say Win2k remembers which files are sp1? What if it was one of those files that was corrupted? Wouldn't it need to copy a new one from the CD to fix it? In that case, the file is no longer the SP1 version. Or so I surmise.
