Getting an Apple MBP... but should I wait for Leopard?

I'm on the verge of getting a MacBook Pro, I actually was going to today, but sadly the Apple store had none... but after this, it gave me time to have a thought.

With the release of Leopard in October, does anyone know if Apple plans on revising or releasing a new MacBook Pro along with it??

Should I just get one now, and upgrade the OS later, assuming Apple won't be releasing a new MBP any time soon...or will they?

Thoughts? Corrections? Thanks :]

I don't expect them to update the MacBook Pro anytime soon. Jobsy (He gets such a kick out of that name!) and i were having lunch a couple days ago, and he was telling me that since they just updated the MacBook Pros, they don't really need a refresh for Leopard. The MacBooks, maybe, but not the Pros.

The current refresh should be able to run Leopard like a champ, heck my MacBook runs it just fine (need more RAM to be perfect) so the new MBPs will handle it no sweat.

If you keep holding off until they release that next version, then you will never buy it.

While I agree with your sentiment TheStu, being this close to the release of Leopard would cause me to wait as well. Apple doesn't give out vouchers for the next release like Microsoft (or maybe it was a vendor) did for XP and Vista do they? When XP was about to be released, some vendors like Dell, gave a voucher to upgrade your OS when XP was released.

I have heard 3 different things concerning that

1: within 90 days of an OS release, they will reimburse/give it to you for free
2: within 14 days
3: Not a chance

at this point i'd probably wait, unless you need it for school or something. the closer it gets the more excited i'm getting about leopard, should be pretty nice.

I don't particularly NEED it for school until the next semester, however, does anyone actually NEED a laptop? I'd like to have it, I wouldn't mind just upgrading the OS later on if need be, my only real concern is if with it's release does Apple plan on altering the MBP's relatively soon (few months-wise), because if so then I'd assume waiting would be ideal... I really just don't enjoy taking 20 pages of notes a day haha, and I write quite small :[

some schools actually require them, that's mostly what i was talking about. there are rumors going around about a 15" refresh coming up on september 5th, but mostly because the lead time is 7-10 days now for whatever reason for one. personally i think it has to do the with the yellowing lcd problem, but i have nothing to base that on. of course, neither do the people coming up with the rumor.

I have a 14" PC notebook, and I like the size of the 13" MB. It's very portable, although the screen res. can be low. If it's your main machine I'd consider getting a larger screen, or perhaps just a monitor for when you are at a desk.
