Yeah OP deserves all the criticism he is getting, a simple google search would have made this thread irrelevant.

Next thing he will say is that he didn't know what google is.
You are dense as granite.

If you end-up going and probably won't have access to ATOT when you get off the Coliseum BART station, follow all of the people wearing Raider's gear b/c they'll be heading to the stadium.
You are insinuating I'm lame. Man, if you only knew. I've done and still do things you have never dreamed of, couldn't do if your life depended on it. Buzz off.

I went to a college basketball game maybe 10 years ago and was grossed out by all the obnoxious drunk people all around me.
And despite this you want to go to a Raiders game? Perhaps you are the one that is dense.

Sorry, but if you are on this forum, then, even if you do "not know these things," you have access to the internet and know how to use it.

AND, since you "watch a[ ] lot [of "professional sports game"] on TV", you must have seen a lot of commercials for these mythical ticket services.

You deserve what you are getting and should just take it like a man.

Well, I'm not crying in my beer. WTF have I done here that's such a sin? Asking for tips on getting a reasonable ticket to a playoff game. Horribly stupid. Yeah, Google is my home page. But my experience is that finding out what you want to know using Google is not always the best way of getting the info you need, certainly not the fastest.

Commercials for "these mythical ticket services"? I routinely skip commercials when I watch professional sports on TV.

1. Your sin was not asking the stupid question. Your sin was, once it was pointed out how stupid the question was, you doubled-down on stupid by defending your asking of the question. Don't double-down on stupid.

2. We have all had the experience of trying to use Google to find information, and coming up empty. That is when you come to the forums for help. It is clear that you did not even TRY Google first. If you had, you would have found all these rumored ticket sale sites and, if you were feeling particularly bold, you may have even gone to a few of them to see what the tickets were selling for (so you could ask an intelligent question here in the forums).

3. It is hard to believe that one would believe that, if the answer is available through a Google search, it is faster to ask the question on a forum. The present question is clear evidence of the opposite.

4. Many of the sites are advertised more in-game than during commercial breaks, the most obvious of which are TicketMaster and NFL Ticket Exchange. This is a perfect example of doubling-down on stupid: You are simple making up a fake reason to excuse your alleged failure to have seen commercials for ticket sales sites.

5. Before you reply, remember, don't double-down on stupid.

Like ask a question on a forum that a simple Google search would have revealed? And then defend the asking of such a lame question? If that's what you mean, then you're probably right.

Consider me chastened, ahem.

Well, I may have heard the ticket sales promotions, sure, but when you have no interest in what's being promoted you pay little attention, it goes in one ear and out the other. I watch games and pay attention to what I'm interested in. Until now, I had no interest in buy a ticket to an NFL game, thus I paid no attention. When I suddenly had an interest the other day I figured (and I still think rightly) that many people here (ATOT) would have ideas about what works better for something like this than I'm apt to know after 1/2 hour of Googling about it. Sorry to water down your ATOT soup. I think the problem is that some people don't like the idea of my short-circuiting the system by asking for tips.

"Don't double-down on stupid."

I thought to myself, "I am wiser than this man: neither of us knows anything that is really worthwhile, but he thinks he has knowledge when he has not, while I, having no knowledge, do not think that I have. I seem, at any rate, to be a little wiser than he is on this point: I do not think that I know what I do not know." - Socrates

Anyway, TBH, I'm feeling discouraged about the whole thing at this point and figure I won't bother trying to get a ticket. I had a feeling, and I'm sure it's true, that to get a ticket to a playoff team that hasn't been to the playoffs in 14 years and is generating tremendous excitement (and the team may leave the area permanently in short order), there's going to be a rush on tickets. I DO NOT KNOW THE ROPES. Eh, screw it, I'm not going.

I Google all the time. I open pages and tabs until my browser crashes and then start all over again. Sometimes there's better/easier/faster ways to get the answer you want. You don't believe that? Was I wrong about this one? Maybe. Anyway, TBH I am not sure that I have ever bought a ticket to an NFL game, certainly not for a playoff game. I think it's going to stay that way for a while.

The lesson has not yet been learned. Maybe another way of interpreting "Don't double-down on stupid" is, "When you have dug yourself a hole you can't seem to get out of, stop digging." You, sir, are well on your way to China.

Even after reading this thread, you really think it would take 1/2 hour of Googling to find the information you seek? You should know by now that it would take you about 1/2 MINUTE?

And, yes, people don't like it when people like you ask questions that they could answer with a simple Google search - why do you think lmgtfy exists? As for me, I am more disturbed by your lack of ability to simply admit your mistake and let it go - I get the feeling you still think you were somehow in the right when, clearly, you were not. I do not mind people who make mistakes (at least when they only make the same mistake once). I dislike it when people double-down on stupid.

As for Socrates, he would also tell you to not double-down on stupid.
