Don't do it.

I lost a bunch of money when a deal to buy the Moon from a guy in Brooklyn fell through.

Give me $5 and I'll name a star after you.

There is no official star registration. Anyone can "name" stars and make fancy certificates.

Everytime my girlfriend would ask me for gift ideas, I'd tell her to name a star after them, buy them In'N'Out gift certificates, or make a donation in their name to the Human Fund... she'd get massively pissed at me.

This is the woman who gave birth to you from... you know... down there. Give her something decent. :D

Good luck!

I believe you do get naming rights if you are the first to find it, so start looking. (might need your own Hubble telescope though)
